ProSight Specialty Insurance announced a new drug test in partnership with Foley Carrier Services that the firms say raises the bar on safety standards in the transportation industry that goes beyond standard Department of Transportation-compliant testing to identify the riskiest drivers that typically go undetected.
ProSight said in a statement that the program includes a robust drug testing package to help identify drivers and machine operators utilizing drugs not monitored in a typical DOT drug test.
The drug testing program launched by Morristown, N.J.-based ProSight includes three options that are offered to ProSight policyholders at a discount off of retail pricing:
According to a statement from ProSight, undetected drug use clearly impacts customers’ bottom line by increasing the costs they incur to replace drug-impaired drivers. Statistics show that the current DOT-compliant drug screen panel does not include many contemporary drugs that, if included in a drug screen, may provide a more complete profile of driver substance use. The standard test fails to detect a wide range of drugs that can lead to accidents and undesirable behavior among drivers.
Inadequate testing is an acknowledged problem in the industry, ProSight said.
“ProSight is fully committed to working with industry experts to solve problems that affect our transportation customers,” said Jeremy Zottneck, President for Transportation Niche at ProSight. “We’re very excited to partner with Foley to offer an enhanced drug test that will help customers boost their productivity, reduce driver churn, decrease dangerous incidents and improve overall ROI.”
